about me

Kamila Elżbieta Wolszczak de Loo
I was born on April 7, 1988, and grew up in the rural areas surrounding the city Chelm in Poland. This unique landscape will later appear to be deciding in my artistic projects and personal developments. Currently I’m living and working in Amsterdam.

After my BFA degree in Painting and MFA degree in Fine Arts & Art Mediation I started working as a visual artist, performer and art mediator. I founded and organize collective artist-run exhibitions in independent spaces: Universal Self-Supporting Exhibitions and I’m active in the performance art duo PARAperformance. My works facilitate the relation between the artist and the audience in site-specific situations.

I am creating projects about the relations between the viewer, artist and space with performance art and installation. Many times during projects I delegate my ideas and try to fulfil the needs of the participants with an idea and time. The territory where I am creating is called art mediation or social engaged art, but the truth is that I accept change as inevitable and try to find a solution. I believe in the power of communities and art as a tool for changes, that’s my statement.

Art works and projects realized at:
Witte Rook (Breda, NL), Goleb (Amsterdam NL), Kunstacademie Friesland (Leeuwarden NL), AIL (Vienna AT), Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art (Warsaw PL), LUHOvaný Vincent ( Luhačovice CZ), KunstHaus (Wiesbaden DE), WIPAW Duży Pokój (Warsaw PL), Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art (Ustka PL), Miami New Media Festival, (Miami USA), Media Art Biennale (Wrocław PL), Muza space for art (Jaffa Tel Aviv ISR), Galeria H2O  (Barcelona ES)
